With newScale DemandCenter™, IT can manage establish service agreements and track the objectives, service tiers, cost drivers, expectations, and pricing for each service offering within the Service Catalog. On an ongoing basis, you can analyze the consumption of IT services, collaborate with the business to forecast future demand, and update demand forecasts based on changing business needs.

Historically, IT spend has represented a "black hole" for business decision-makers — with little transparency into detailed budget items or consumption drivers. newScale DemandCenter is designed to help bridge that gap between IT and its customers:

  • Establish business-relevant agreements for services: Manage service agreements with business unit customers for each service offering and maintain those contracts in a central, organized structure. Each of these service contracts establishes shared service objectives, documents pricing options, defines the agreed-to service tiers, and sets a demand forecast for each period.

  • Forecast demand for IT services: Model "what if" scenarios to determine how changes in demand or business needs impact cost. Working together, the business and IT can control the "knobs" that dial costs up or down. Changes in IT service costs or demand are tracked and managed within a change control process.

  • Provide IT cost transparency: IT can track unit cost trends, manage allocations, and give business customers greater visibility into budgets versus actual spend. Aggregated cost totals and updated consumption counts enable up-to-date budget planning, invoicing, and chargeback.

newScale provides essential tools to help relationship managers — and their counterparts in IT finance - improve the IT-business relationship:

  • Communicate potential services, evaluate service level options, identify related resources, determine cost drivers, forecast consumption, and measure agree upon service objectives.

  • Establish agreements tailored for each customer, including objectives that relate to key business drivers, service-based pricing with optional tiers of service, and forecasted demand based on historical consumption.

  • Unlike traditional spreadsheet-based approaches that require a complex command-and-control structure to keep track of all the moving pieces, newScale allows budgeting and forecasting to be federated among business unit executives and their IT relationship managers. Any adjustments to forecast are recorded, ensuring compliance with change and audit controls.
