Raiffeisen Informatik GmbH Deploys IT Service Catalog with newScale® Software
Leading Austrian IT Service Provider Embarks on ITIL® v3 Program
Vienna, Austria / Cologne, Germany / San Mateo, USA - July 7, 2009 - newScale, Inc., the market leader in IT Service Catalog and Service Portfolio Management solutions, today announced that Raiffeisen Informatik GmbH, a leading IT service provider in Austria, is deploying newScale software for the next generation of their enterprise IT Service Catalog. arxes Consulting GmbH - a newScale partner and fully owned subsidiary of TDMi AG in Cologne, Germany - will manage the deployment.
Raiffeisen Informatik (R-IT) is the IT service provider for the well-known Raiffeisen banking network in Europe, as well as renowned organizations such as UNIQA insurance, the Asfinag road network, AGRANA food company, KEBA electronics, Orange telecommunications, and others. R-IT is the largest data center provider in Austria and manages one of the most advanced data centers with more than 3,000 server systems handling some 20,000 users.
The next generation of the R-IT Service Catalog will be based on the newScale PortfolioCenterTM and newScale DemandCenterTM applications. This new Service Catalog solution will improve all aspects of service lifecycle management for R-IT clients, beginning with the definition of standard service offerings - through to service provisioning and continual improvement of services. The newScale Service Catalog will allow R-IT to standardize services, automate processes, and improve the quality and cost-efficiency of their IT infrastructure.
"As a service provider focused on high availability, we deliver reliable and market-driven services to our clients around the clock. With this next generation Service Catalog and Service Portfolio Management solution, we can be even closer to the needs of our clients. The newScale system for managing demand will ensure continuous service improvement for our clients" says Magister Wilfried Pruschak, managing director of Raiffeisen Informatik GmbH. "In partnership with newScale and TDMi arxes, we are employing the most advanced technology for state of the art IT service management based on ITIL v3."
IT Service Catalog for Improved Cost-Efficiency and Quality
R-IT's next generation IT Service Catalog follows the ITIL v3 lifecycle model, a framework that is also the foundation of newScale software solutions. The newScale Service Catalog software provides R-IT with the flexibility to define business services and their underlying technical IT services, leveraging re-usable and shared sub-components. This concept of re-usability saves time by eliminating redundancy and duplication, allowing R-IT to standardize and simplify its service offerings for clients.
R-IT will use the newScale PortfolioCenter application to manage the Service Portfolio Management process for potential new service offerings that meet client needs. newScale DemandCenter will be used to control the processes, roles and responsibilities associated with the provisioning and consumption of IT services.
"The Service Catalog is more than just a self-service portal for end user service request management," said Scott Hammond, president and CEO of newScale, Inc. "Organizations like Raiffeisen Informatik are selecting newScale PortfolioCenter and newScale DemandCenter for their strategic Service Catalog programs. Their initiative shows the importance of a Service Catalog in delivering standardized, cost-competitive and highly efficient services for both data center and end user operations. We are honored to welcome R-IT as one of our newest customers in Europe."
Applying ITIL for Service-Based Data Center Operations
Following ITIL v3 best practices, the deployment of a Service Catalog requires commitment by the leadership within an IT organization. By applying a combination of the right people, processes, and tools such as those offered by newScale, IT can build a flexible service-based model for both data center and end user computing operations.
"Internal and external IT providers throughout Europe are under pressure to redirect their attention from "servers" in the data center to a focus on "services" for their customers," explains Stephan Brendel, the director of arxes Consulting GmbH in Germany. "Raiffeisen Informatik is an industry thought leader in driving this IT transformation. TDMi arxes is contributing to this paradigm shift within R-IT, combining our technical newScale expertise together with our knowledge as consultants and trainers for ITIL v3".
