Profile:
Noridian Mutual Insurance Company began operations in the 1940s, offering North Dakota's first prepaid hospital and medical health coverage plans. The company is also known as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, providing coverage for 80% of the state's privately insured population.
Challenge:
Noridian's IT organization had developed a highly customized "service work order" system that was expensive to maintain, limited in functionality, used by a limited number of employees, and unable to meet the future needs of the business.
Solution:
The CIO of Noridian charted the IT services team with improving operational efficiency and reducing IT costs, and they selected the newScale Service Catalog and request management solution to address this mandate and replace their homegrown system.
Results:
- Comprehensive Service Catalog covering a broad range of end-user IT, applications, telecommunications, facilities, human resources, and employee on-boarding functions.
- A user-friendly self-service portal, allowing all 2,300 Noridian employees to quickly and easily request services.
- Automated request fulfillment, with integrations to their access management system and BMC Remedy service desk tool, ensuring more cost-effective IT service delivery.
- Greater visibility into security and access controls, including tracking and auditing of access to software, systems, data, and buildings.
